In the Brain of Dr. Glynn

I want to take a minute to explain to you a little of my mind set…

when it comes to what I do as a Chiropractor and why I have gone through several years of post graduate schooling in areas of Functional Neurology, Sports Medicine, Traumatic Brain Rehabilitation.

By understanding both the biomechanical load on the (athlete's body, injured body, normal body) and their neurological function, this is crucial in preventing injuries and optimizing health/performance. Biomechanics is only one piece of the puzzle when it comes to understanding the individual's body. By looking at how the brain brain functions within each individual, we can gain a more comprehensive understanding of how they process and modulate their tasks and surroundings, this leads to more personalized and effective care.

Functional Neurology is a therapy that focuses on neurologically-based rehabilitation, targeting different areas of the brain and neural connections within the nervous system to promote optimal function. By utilizing neurologically-focused therapy, Functional Neurology seeks to activate the brain in a manner that affects various systems within the brain (vision, balance, autonomics, endocrine, sensation, motor, cognition). This stimulation encourages neural connections by increasing cerebral perfusion from the help of targeted therapies, as well as heightening the responsiveness of the musculoskeletal system leading to improved biological function.

Biomechanical loads can result in injury when they exceed the structure's ability to tolerate them. Functional Neurology can help identify any imbalances or weaknesses in the individuals nervous system that may increase their risk of injury, allowing us to develop customized treatment plans that address both biomechanical and neurological factors. This multidisciplinary approach enables us to optimize the individuals health /performance while reducing their risk of injury.

Therefore, my goal is to provide comprehensive care for people by considering both biomechanical load and neurological function. By utilizing therapies such as Joint Manipulation, Therapeutic Procedures, and Functional Neurology, we are targeting areas of the brain that are depressed, increasing neural connections, increasing biomechanics/ body awareness and promoting optimal biological function.

Taking this multidisciplinary approach and utilizing neurologically-focused rehabilitation techniques, we can help people  achieve their best health / performance while reducing their risk of injury from biomechanical loads.
